I've got a TS501, had it for a few years, apart from bringing sensors out of shipping mode, it does everything I need, for everything else I have Autologic for LR (albeit a very old one!) and an iCarsoft DTC reader - plus Xentry for work stuff of course!.

Well Amazon finally delivered the correct item, a proper pain in the arris it is too.... Autel insist on you registering the product and carrying out multiple updates before the product is usable.... To be fair, that's 'just how things are' with a lot of stuff. I really don't know who would buy a TPMS tool at ~£800, with the exception of taking sensors out of shipping mode, it doesn't really do anything I need to do with my much cheaper TS501 - oh, the mode change appears to not work, except it does, the device throws an error after 30 seconds of 'spinny thinking time', well, some of the time it does, two of the sensors changed state immediately (but not according to the Autel unit), the other three took multiple attempts, the worst was five... So I'm legitimately returning it, it's just to flaky and low on value to keep (which I was considering, if it had useful extras).

Reminds me of some of the older Autel stuff I had (and sold-on as fast as I could upgrade to the '708) which were handheld and very, very flakey on software/s, very dubious installation-paths, all the things that made me think, "I don't really like this".
I think you are doing the right thing; if the tool is flakey, it isn't worth £800 in today's climate.
