Service books are slowly being fazed out Any idea why Karl? From a buying and selling point of view of course. I'm guessing an more secure way of recording a vehicles history Begs the question on how this would impact a warranty claim for a maintained vehicle not serviced by a Ford franchised dealer? Meetings I have attended, Government control have advised that the country is moving toward a paperless society.

You can log on to the Manufacture's websites and register the service, but as per normal they have made it such a long winded pain in the ar*e with a thousand hoops to jump through that you tend to give up, takes longer than the service!!!

I had a customer phone up for advice on his Freelander last week. He has a mechanical breakdown cover that stipulates, so he claims, that the service book is fully stamped and up-to-date. Apparently his service book is not stamped and up-to-date, which is strange, as he normally keeps on top of every little detail on his cars. He is missing the last two years. I said I would go back in my records to verify the services and stamp them; except I haven't serviced his car, it has gone each time to another garage! I only ever get to diagnose and repair his cars, which is a frequent experience on the Freelander1.....
