my wifes micra 2003 is suffering from the dreaded timing chain stretch. The engine misfires badly at cold getting better as the engine warms up.The codes Ive read are po300 random misfires and po340 cam position sensor. I finally got round to taking the cam cover to look at the tensioner. Its protruding 20mm so the chain is totalled. The car isnt worth much,I came across mention of a car mechanics article repositioning the cam sensor to give a temporay fix,I cant find any mention of it in the forums
cheers

Elongate the cam sensor mounting hole so that you can adjust it

I have done a cam chain on one of these, the sump has to come off.
Not a nice job, best avoided.
K11 Nissans were very good.
K12 engines are not as good as the early K11, they are a very poor replacement (too much French input) I think in other countries they call a Micra K12 a Renault pulse?.
I have a customer with a K10 1988 still going strong.
K11C (facelift) cars are one of the best vehicles ever made, I have a black 2001 one with 120.000 on the clock as a courtesy car.
K12 diesels are a vile motor vehicle.
