Very nice I've owned two in the 1990's a black "J" Reg 1992 model and a late blue "K" reg a few years after. I nearly bought a "K" plate 4 or 5 years ago and missed out (good price as well IMO) spannermonkey before you go out and buy a Haynes manual let me check my books I'm sure I've go two and if so your more than welcome to one of them.

Although not in the same league, I had a H reg 1990 Sapphire 2.0 DOHC model.....great car great engine, had over 100k on it when I p/x'd it.....
But, I do recall the Cologne engine suffering from timing gear failure ....fibre/resin gears?

The 2.9s apparently have a chain rather than gears made of soft cheese.

The MT75 gearbox can be a weakness in 3rd gear is the only real weak spot as they have been know to shear the teeth when pushing a big torque figure.

Thanks Nobster, will take you up on that offer,i'm not too bad on sierras, just not the 4x4 as just sold a nice 93'1.6 cvh,i believe the 2.9 is the one(chain) to have rather than the 2.8 that's why i jumped on this one and yes the mt75 is fine on the standard engine but a lot of guy's turbo'd and twin turbo'd these, but this is totally standard right down to the alloys and exhaust system,no stainless or big bore been fitted, interior is in great condition.
