Hi Guys The above van is giving me a bit of a headache at the moment , I bought it and was told it would be checked over and mot tested before I took delivery, the seller (Trader) asked for a week to do any necessary work? Anyway, he was like the mot station a complete wash out I was very limited to what I could inspect in their yard at the time and pointed out a few things that didn't seem to get done . I arranged for another driver to collect the vehicle with me at the time, and I also arrange with a body shop in that area (my mate) to do a couple of areas of bodywork for me before I brought it home, some 50 miles away. Anyway putting that lot a side now I have had the van on the ramp at work and started to work my way through it before I officially put it on the road into service. I have to purchase a offside front wheel bearing for it, (should have failed the mot), which don't look too expensive off Ebay, but am told a special tool is required to remove and refit , which looking on the Ford IDS I see the tool, looks quite expensive and wondering if anyone knows an easy way round it? The nearside front differential oil seal looks to be leaking gear oil and I have looked at purchasing a new seal again from Ebay, but I need to fully understand which gearbox is fitted? I seem to have a choice of about three, the MT 75, the MT 82, the MTX75 and another I can't remember the model number of ? The Ford IDS system even using the full chassis number can identify the van but is not very good at differentiating which gearbox is actually fitted? According to the Ford IDS reading the VIN plate the transmission identification is V2, but to date have failed to cross reference this to any transmission using the IDS system. Autodata show the correct transmission but don't identify it? I am thinking it is the MT - 75 but am not 100% sure?

The MT75 is a rear wheel drive 5 speed box or four wheel drive gearbox depending on variant. The Ford MTX-75 is a 5-speed box for larger engined front wheel drive models. The Ford MT82 is a newish 6 speed gearbox. Don't know if your Tranny's front or rear wheel drive?

The special tool for the wheel bearing is a sledge hammer I have Ford eTIS but I can't find it , and some information on their platform ain't right either Apparently there are two special tools that can do this job , both look quite expensive Nr. 204 - 345B and 204 - 595, which looks like some type of pneumatic hub bearing remover/installer

A LWB 2.0 (indicates a FWD) is unheard of, I don't think I've ever seen one.
If it's a 350 it will be a 2.4 RWD. Either type, the wheel bearing can removed with a large chisel used as a wedge and hammer between disc and hub once the x5 torx 45 hub bolts have been removed. It doesn't damage disc if your careful.
Bearing needs cutting off, along with outer bearing races stuck to drive flange. There are tools to do it with but even at the dealer, this is how we did it and I do to date.

Nope guys both of you are wrong , it is the 1998cc 2.0L 100 350 LWB Hi top Front Wheel Drive as stated in the title to the thread Take a look on my other thread where I posted the brake pipes pictures from underneath the van in the mot section, vibration and noise or something I called the thread? You will see the length of the floor panels and chassis, definitely no rear prop shaft and the rear axle is a none live axle. I have definitely topped the gear oil up in the transverse mounted gearbox at the front and can see that the nearside front drive shaft/gearbox differential oil seal has a leak, and it definitely ain't a Four Wheel Drive Transit It's not a common rail diesel either, the engine is a timing chain driven type
