Finally! some good news, hope they realise that you can't drive two cars at the same time and give a discount if two or more cars owned in your name my insurance does this for me now(doubt it though) P.s if nothing displayed what's to stop false plates becoming the new scam? And does this mean the start of nationwide ANPR?

Another jobs cutting exercise IMO. I don't know why they don't scrap VED and put it on fuel. You can pay by DD and be charged 5% for the privilege. Well you know where you can stick that. I forsee a system that will have teething problems as any system is only as good as the data it holds at the NADC). As for ANPR in effect you could end up being stopped and be perfectly legal due to the system flagging up a problem relating to a previous owner of a vehicle. It's happened with dreadful consequences as it turns out.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Saves queuing at the Post Office, and will knock the road tax dodgers on the head

You could already get tax online, didnt need to queue up at a post office. ( I always used my local post office though, I like to support local business) But number plate scams are the obvious one. Imagine, just find another car identical to the one owned by the tax dodger and get a copy of his number plates. Use his insurance and tax ? How is this system going to find that? Should this post be delted though?

It's going to be a right shambles if you ask me the unlawful won't change their ways and this and any Government couldn't organize a p*ss up in a Brewery.

Theres not a lot stopping you I know, but with a tax disc in the window with a reg no displayed that has to match ? With new system, pc Plod stops the car, with dodgy number plates, how does he know its the right car or the clone?
