I abandoned Ar**book around 3years ago, once I realised it was full of either 1) whingers 2) radicals 3) virtue-signalling vegans
I haven't missed it one little bit - the account is still there (I think....) but I have too little time to mess around with that sort of time-wasting drivel. The biggest problem I see is that it's all about "here and now" and has little in the way of search-functionality. So useless if you want to go back in a year's time and look for brake problems on a Doblo. For example. It represents what is so wrong around modern society; fast-feed action, but nothing of any long-lasting substance.

I agree, the only thing I find of value sometimes is the market place or spares groups where I’ve found some handy bits for the classics.

Got son's Tiguan for a full service, oil, all filters, general health check and reset the service light messages...Oh and the front camera has an issue, so no front assist! Grill off time to have a butchers...
Than bbq this afternoon...cremating some sausages and chicken and burgers....Should be good for a laugh..

Is it worth setting up on Facebook or something ? Group messenger chat etc ? That would make it quieter on here. And Facebook groups attract all the bellends. I don't use facef*ck. Rhubarb took a lot of time setting this Forum up many years ago so it wouldn't be a good idea to dilute this Forum IMO. Yes it does have it's quiet periods and sometimes attracts the wrong sort but they don't last long when the Mods are on the ball.

Chip When you reset your sons Tiguan service schedule do you reset it for the fixed service schedule or the Flexible service schedule? Mines going in for a Service this Wednesday and at present it's on a Flexible Service schedule but I don't want to leave the oil in for another twelve months hence it's being done earlier so I'm going to ask them to reset the service light to the fixed service schedule as I don't do that many miles a year now.

Its killed off a fair few forums that thought it would attract more footfall for the primary. I do like a bargain from marketplace, buying / selling on eBay gets expensive

Errmmm….I just clicked on the SRI box in vcds, I’m assuming it’s the fixed …..besides, he doesn’t get it serviced religiously…..to the date.., Although I found it dead easy to change the fuel filter….after removing all the fuel in the housing, I used Vcds to run the fuel pump to get some fresh into a jug, fit new filter in housing then add fuel until full….Car started no bother and ran fine.. Got issues with the trailer module now…No can bus comms….fecking thing! Got to rip out all the inside rear stuff to get access..

That would make it quieter on here. And Facebook groups attract all the bellends. Its killed off a fair few forums that thought it would attract more footfall for the primary. Facebook groups can work great for general chat but they need seriously heavy handed moderation to do it. A few friends are mods on a group called Modern Classic Executive Cars which is a sort of halfway house between an old style club/forum and a facebook group. The number of wombats and spammers is crazy compared to here. Also, as mentioned, they're not so good for reference, technical chat or for keeping track of projects. Personally I'd keep the forum here and ask folks to invite anyone they think will fit in and understand the general "vibe" of this place (knowledgeable folks who discuss things like grown-ups) I do like a bargain from marketplace, buying / selling on eBay gets expensive I've got a theory about online marketplaces like Ebay/Gumtree/FB Marketplace They start out mainly with under 40s "techy types" selling a few things at a sensible price, as these are the folks most likely to be using a new site. You might grab a bargain or two from someone who doesn't know what they have, but its not too mad Then, as folks realise that you can get a bargain, more "normal" folks roll in, selling random crap and starting to push prices up/down and it gets harder to find a bargain Later, as the number of customers rises you get "professionals" who treat the service as another shopfront like Amazon/Ebay/record fairs etc, they can afford to provide returns/refunds etc so soon everyone expects all sellers to do it as well And then finally the big boys come in with fully automated storefronts to sell fakes etc in bulk. At that point the first lot have been pushed out and there's no more bargains to be had, so everyone moves on to the next service I believe FB marketplace is at about the second step right now. You can still find bargains, but its a lot trickier than it was and there's a lot of shite outh there.

I agree with everything above, there is an "element" there, you just have to have a thick skin and ignore them.

Farcebook marketplace, great for buying, awful for selling. Reminds me of Gumtree/Scumtree.

Anybody remember the Loot magazine from the late 1980's until somewhere in the late 1990's it seem to disappear. Great for buying stuff back then.

"Errmmm….I just clicked on the SRI box in vcds, I’m assuming it’s the fixed …." SRi in VCDS is sort of hit and hope button - if fires thru loads of screens Bit like hitting F7 for spell check on windows. Hit and hope
