Derv hit £2.00 a litre in the small market town I live in yesterday.
Winter is coming and energy costs have to go up more!

The thing I don't understand is this: Why is "Red" diesel supplying at £2.00/ltr at the moment?
That's an even bigger p-take, as there shouldn't be a huge amount of "chancellor's grab" on that stuff.

I don't understand that either? Someone is "coining it in" as there is rebates on "red diesel". ------------ At Budget 2020 the government announced that it was removing entitlement to use red diesel from most sectors, except for agriculture (as well as horticulture, forestry and fish farming), rail and non-commercial heating, from 1 April 2022.Is it...? That you pay for "red" at the full DERV price and then claim the rebates back with proof of use? Don't know? But I do know the laws are/have changed about "rebated fuel".

It was about comments made by Priti Patel in the newspaper about how the Police should arrest protesters against fuel prices….
My words were maybe a little strong about her..not really for a place like here I thought afterwards.. but as it seems, 2 more of Boris Bollox henchmen have resigned…shame she didn’t go as well…
I know the sub board is entitled ‘anything goes’ but I don’t wanna get into a political wrangle with anyone, but there is the freedom of speech and the risk of censure…

I had a surprise on Saturday. Petrol E10 into the Skoda Fabia. £70.50 went in....
When I looked at the price per litre, that was a bit more interesting - £1.91 at the local station. Compared to some of the stories banding-around, that doesn't seem bad; we are almost at parity on prices!!

What is not protected by freedom of speech is as below. Defamation (including libel and slander) Child pornography. Perjury. Blackmail. I have read the thread you deleted and IMO nothing was slanderous or other. Boris is on borrowed time after recent events keep popping up. Two MP's resigned and a few more may follow.

Wasn't aware it was available only E5 or E10 petrol. What's it called Si?

I've taken to using Dipetane fuel additive to counteract the lack of Sulphur (which works as a lubricant), I have to say, despite them being very evasive as to what's in it, the results do seem to mirror their claims, not quite with the first use but I've now put 300 litres of treated fuel through the engine and it does seem to have got smoother, quieter (less diesel clatter) and the always subjective MPG has improved. It does add 0.055/litre cost, is it worth it? probably not just on improved MPG but on whole engine benefit, well, it seems to. I'm going to keep using it for now, £11 a month isn't going to take food out of the kids Dogs bowls and if it extends the life of the engine and fuel system - why not.

Audi A2 TDi did a dissapointing (measured not dash indicated) 48 MPG first partial fill (the same as the Golf estate does) due to fuel stations running out of diesel - get it when they've got it! This was at a time the car idled a lot having had the gearbox swapped out our breaker complete with new clutch and a intercooler leak repaired, again the breaker supplied the replacement. Serviced, all filters were minging the car now made 54MPG with smaller alloys and new Rainsport 5 tyres, again lots of short journeys and idling whilst fannying around. Thermostat changed - the dash only read 80 degrees even after 18 miles commute, badly repaired MAF wiring repaired and weather sealed, knuckle and hub swapped off the breaker due to noisy (understatement!) wheel bearing (I don't have a Gen2 press and the hub is essentially free) and that's where we are today. The car has only used been to keep the battery charged and prove reliabillity to this point. 4 KYB dampers, 4 springs, 2 topmounts, 2 track rods + ends, 2 front flexis on order from Autodoc should see the car driving much better and after alignment should see me crack 60 MPG fingers crossed. Its proved to be reliable over the 2 fills so far so it gives me confidence going forward that once the previous traders abuse has been rectified it will be a frugal way to commute to work. Under bonnet work proves difficult for me as cramped conditions cause issues with arthiric wrists and thumbs, it's a marathon not a sprint! Big improvement over the first tank, goes to show how decent maintenance and servicing can pay in the long run. I still have suspension to fit, timing belt and possibly cam kit, it’s a bit tappy atm Todays fill. I hustle along quickly, engine braking and carrying as much corner speed as I can (not a low revving dawdler) to get to where I’m going asap - that’s the whole point of transport? The car is still a bit flat below 2000rpm, little torque to hold tall gears etc Mileage is 100% my normal commute
