Nadolig Llawen everyone, and a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda for a few days ahead!
I'm down at the folks' place for a few days with the craziness that is my family. Did a few boxing day jobs on the Ferguson project tractor, however it looks like we may have to lift the head again as it started leaking oil at the head joint and re-torqueing hasn't helped. Hopefully we can borrow a compression tester and be sure before we start. Fortunately being an OHV engine lifting the head isn't a massive job.

I think those Fergie’s might have an adjustable oil pressure relief valve. If I’m right, there’s a hex bolt head and lock nut on the side of the block just above the sump gasket on the side where the oil pump is (same side as the camshaft). Just a thought that it could be worth checking that the oil pressure isn’t set too high, as it’s more prone to blow gaskets if it is.

The oil pressure gauge is basically pinned at "max" when cold, only dropping to about 1/3rd when at slow tickover when warm, so its possible someone's been fiddling before. Annoyingly, the oil pressure gauge only has red and white markings and not PSI measurements, so we may have to borrow one.
