I've got 07 due in for stretch chain and got a quote to do for a 09 plate for a noise. My factors have two kits listed, One vvt pulley are these common for going faulty and anybody done them is there anything to be aware of, Whats a realistic time to do these?
Thanks

So they are either vvt or not? Doesn't say what model of Peugeot it is? 206 or 207 VTI is chain (Prince engine) VVT is belt (TU based engine) IIRC.

Thanks the vvt pulleys are common as anything the 1.6 has two,one for each cam, cant say about 1.4,i would have thought its the same. pulleys are 45 each from dealers and chain parts are sold individually. you need the proper tools to do this job. job aint bad,4 to 5 hours book time. be carefull of the aux belt tentioner,it has a special way of de adjusting it,its simple but you can damage it if you do it wrong. theres a rubber coated water pump puley that fucks up for fun, usually after you re engage aux belt tentioner,so it might be worth getting a new one. my local dealer keeps it in stock,it was twenty somthing plus. ok,after the job you need to do oil and filter, people use semi synthetic which isnt good enough for these and results in premature chain wear. also take out both cam pos sensors and clean them, they will be covered in swarf. HTH

Thanks vvt pulleys are fully floating. so just like a reno 16 valve engine, lock the cam,put on belt/chain,and do the tension then tighten vvt pulley bolts.

Thanks, Thought so. Problem is its bringing up 2 fault codes still P0014 Exhaust dephasing fault coherence and P11A8 Exhaust camshaft dephasing fault coherence. It was diagnosed somewhere else came to me for the chain, Checked timing exhaust cam out adjusted, Fitted chain kit genuine. I've rechecked timing swapped the solenoids round and cam sensor still same, Gonna check wires when I get chance.
Thanks

Thanks have you done a relearn on your diagnostic machine? No, I don't have an option for that. I was gonna get it on another machine but customer picked it up before I could, When I get it back I'll try this first. Thanks for your advice.
