Hi,
My Sister Has Been Using My 2004 Corsa For The Past Year While I Have Been Away.
When I got it back the oil light was on, so I went to check the oil level and the dip stick is missing and there's a hole where it used to be.
Is this fixable? Could a garage just weld another one on or will this be too complicated? Also it is sounding a lot rougher than a year ago, could this be due to the dip stick issue or could it be something worse like head gasket.
Thank you.

The dipstick goes through a tube down into the sump . Is it just the dipstick missing with tube still there - should be easy enough to get another dipstick (breakers yard or dealer) If tube is missing also then you need a tube and dipstick - again from a breakers yard would do fine . You really need to get it sorted as the engine could be low in oil and this making it 'noisy'. These , or any engine , don't last too long if oil level is allowed to drop below minimum .

You are lucky the engine still runs with the dipstick missing it normally blows all the oil out of the dipstick hole and then the engines had it

So your sisters been using it for a year, assume she's not checked the oil during that time them?
Which oil light is on? if the red oil pressure light best look for an engine to go with the new dipstick!
