Hi all Hope someone can help I appear to have to no internal fans blowing whatsoever. As i understand it if it was just the resistor at fault I would still be able to use speed stage 4 of my heating fans as this bypasses it - but no fans operate at all at any speed. There doesn't seem to be any breaks or shorts in the wiring as far as I can see.
I am assuming that I need to change the actual motor blower unit as a whole.
Also is there an associated fuse I should look to change?
Thanks for any advice Pete

According to the haynes manual fuse number 64 (30A) in the under bonnet fuse box is for the blower.

Fuse F1.64 in the battery junction box?

The fuses are numbered oddly. There's 1-29 on one side of the fusebox, with 64 and 65 in the middle of the relays

Check for power at the blower motor

Cheers guys for the fast replies. Forgot the simple things like a blown fuse. Will change fuse first being the cheapest option and report back
EDIT: Bit confused,Could you please confirm location of the fuse?
Thanks

EDIT: Bit confused,Could you please confirm location of the fuse? Thanks Already stated....best to read the previous answers.... Under bonnet fuse box, there are two 30A fuses in the middle of the relays. One for the cooling fan, one for the blower motor. If the fuse is fine, as Rhubarb says get a multimeter and check that there's 12v reaching the motor.

At huge risk of more newbie mocking,Just returning to bump this as the situation has changed a bit but still need help from anyone that can help. I had changed the fuse in the engine bay as that had blown(yep, did find it) and tried a new heat resistor pack which works fine but gets extremely hot after only a few mins with the internal fans on to the extent that it would be dangerous to use so disconnected it. Non genuine Ford resistor but brand new oem
Power reaching blower motor as this works fine Any ideas on what could be at fault here now as I'm a bit lost?

Don't worry about the whole newbie thing - it's meant in a lighthearted way. Everyone has to start somewhere and I can think of a couple of times when I've muddled up fuses of struggled to find components only to find they were right in front of me.
Some resistors do get surprisingly hot (hence the fins) but if something has blown a fuse, there's usually a reason.

Could the blower motor be drawing more current than it should - hence hot resistor and eventual fuse blowing - because it's working harder than it should. Could there be anything increasing the motors work, like something caught on it or a dry bearing?

Cheers Oli Will check again at the motor stage - looking at it its right under the pollen filter area on these models so quite likely some moisture has got into it.

Cheers Oli looking at it its right under the pollen filter area on these models so quite likely some moisture has got into it So that begs the question....what condition is the pollen filter in? If the filter is blocked this will cause the fan motor to draw more current.....
