Astra 1.6 petrol z16xep 107,000 miles has developed fumes / engine smell in cabin. No oil leaks engine regularly serviced and using no oil. Exhaust system (original) been checked for leaks from cat to tailpipe all ok. Have adjusted tailgate bonnet and doors tighter on seals. Occupants complain feeling dizzy headache on long journey's. Just bought battery Co alarm to carry to see if Co in car. Any thoughts?

breathers off the rocker cover spliton a few Astra H models I've seen causing these symptoms.

I had a fiesta do this, in the end it was a breather hose split and the heater intake was ingesting fumes.
My advice? Take it to an expert.

Have checked breather hose from cam cover and all ok. Are these astra Z16XEP engines prone to cracked exhaust manifolds?

You'd hear a cracked manifold as a ticking or chuffing sound (Depending how bad it is).
Have you actually taken it to a proper garage to be checked over at all? I would strongly suggest it as it seems you've checked most of the "simple" possibilities.

As suggested I would check the breather hoses, I saw one an 09 plate a while back where the hose coming from the rocker cover had completely disintegrated - a bad batch I believe.

I am not very familiar with the engine but egrs also tend to leak from time to time A easy and cheap way to find a leak is to mix plain water with dish wash and aply freely with spray bottle on cold idling engine Any leaks will form bubles
