1976 was the really hot one, but I think that 1978 was quite hot; if memory serves me correctly, that was the year that tennis took-off amongst the masses that summer.
It's been ages since I've had to deal with a really rusty classic, so I've lost all sense of smell that you get with burning bitumen seal sealer and that special smell when you try to weld rust to rust!

We must be the only country that gets all four seasons in a day. It's pissing wet windy and not very warm here if that makes you feel better.

More pics to follow, Keep the pics coming! This must have been the prototype for all of those turn-of-millenium Mercs that litter China now. Interesting to see such skinny section tyres on a Merc from the late 70's, same as the tyres on my Rover P6B's from the early 70's.

Tyres are a bit thin i have a set of period alloys but he wants to keep her totally original as this car was the British embasedor to Ireland's Car back in the late seventies.

i found a fortune of fiber-glass ,i filled 2 coal bags of it. Are you using the coal to fill the gaps in? Considering it is a 37 year old car,it's in good nick. There are late cars that don't last 10 years,i.e Ford Ka
