Mondeo started to severely miss fire last night so fitted new injector to cylinder 1 and coded it in now it is throwing up fault code p2291. Will turn over but is very sluggish even with jump leads and there is no fuel coming from fuel rail when cranking over

Was the "new" injector a so called recon item ?
Have bleed the fuel system?
Open up the filter and check for swarf ?

Done leak off test bottle 1 filled up in about 20 seconds compared to other 3 in a minute or so. And I know there is no fuel getting through as I have slackened each injector feed pipe from the rail one by one and cranked engine and there is no fuel feeding any of the injectors

No its brand new injector from delphi. I'm a mechanic I have learnt from doing a lot of mondeo transits and torneos not to use reconed injectors.

I will ask again
Have you bleed the system ? Tried running a separate supply ? Live data readings? Cranking speed ?
Then you should realise loosening high pressure pipes like that is dangerous and those pipes need replacement now

As you have a fault code I presume you can obtain some live data such as fuel rail pressure? Or if not, what's the voltage of the rail pressure sensor reference wire when cranking?
Cracking the high pressure pipes off isn't the way to do it.

At no point have you answered KarlB about priming the system ,this is a must on these including the pump , how do you expect any help here !!!

I've seen numerous people change high pressure pumps, for no fuel pressure at cranking, when all the pump is being fed is air!
Unless the pump has a good low pressure supply of fuel it ain't going to produce nothing.
It's the very first thing I do for a diesel non start with fuel pressure issues..
