From the three faults above, I think you have drawn the correct conclusion there; timing-chain, tensioner, oil quality. There are bound to be a few slight differeces between these in terms of which codes get logged first, but the end-result is the same, strip-down, clean, rebuild with new chain/tensioner kit. the 2845 code comes straight back up on start up it also hunts on start up the 2845 code say vanos jammed/tight, do people replace the vanos units and the chain kit etc ??
you can get a chain and vanos kit now. the tool off an ebay supplier was around 30-40 quids. the new cam pos sensors are modified and around 25 plus each from pug dealers.
