Hello,
I have a Chevrolet Epica 2007. Today I was driving it and I wanted to test the power of this car a little bit, so I did a burnout. I was shifting gears up at ~4k RPM and when I was about to shift the 4th gear, the engine warning light lighted up, speed started going down, gas pedal didn't seem to work anymore. Then I noticed that I can't get the RPMs at more than 2k. I turned the car off, turned it on again and everything was okay again, except for the engine warning light - it was still there. Does anyone have any clue what just happened here? I've tried to drive the car after like 1-2 hours and it seemed that it's all good - RPMs were above 2k and nothing happened.

It obviously didn't like what you were doing to it and went into "Limp Mode".. Best to take it somewhere that does diagnostics and get the fault codes read and go from there

But do you have any guesses what could be the problem? I hope the engine didn't broke or something like that? I mean I hope I won't need to pay something like $1k to fix the car? :s

Nope sorry, I can't offer any more advice...I'm not familiar with your car...This is a UK forum

Get it scanned and the fault code will help point you in the right direction

If read your initial pist correctly, the performance of the car is as it should be? Your issue is with engine warning lamp illuminated? If this the case then you need to have the vehicle diagnosed as to what is causing the lamp to be lit....just take it to the Chevvy dealership or to one of the local service stations that do diagnostics...

Huh, today I was driving a car for like 20 mins, parked it and went to a shop for like 10mins. Came back to the car, started it on and the light was off for some reason o.O

Some faults may clear on their own.....
I had a Vauxhall Corsa with an intermittant EML indication......if the engine was pushed the light would come on....turned out to be the MAF was defective.... This doesnt mean there are no codes logged.... I'd still get it checked and have any residual codes cleared

Today I was driving it and I wanted to test the power of this car a little bit, so I did a burnout As suggested, the computer has logged a fault. If it was just as a result of something going out of parameters temporarily, the light will extinguish after a few more fault free starts.
