Clayed her car today so I thought I'd post my findings. The car is a 2001 Golf tdi, bought new by me, garaged for the first year and then parked outside ever since. Cleaned no more than 3 times per year, but when its done its done thoroughly using a hose, brush, then sponge, never been leathered off. Polished back in 2001 and never again since................ I gave the car a good clean last week then washed and leathered each panel as I went. My next door neighbour is a builder with open fires and a Rayburn central heating boiler, whatever wood he rips out of houses he burns, doors, door frames, floor boards as well as lumps of newly felled trees etc. You'd expect the paint to be filthy and badly contaminated? Well compared to the Audi which I did a couple of years ago with the same kit there was far less contamination on the clay, don't get me wrong its done a good job, removed tar deposits etc and left the paint smooth and ready for polish (water is beading). So rather than throwing the bar away as I was expecting to it live to see another day. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Meguiars-Quick-Clay-Bar-Car-Cleaning-Detailing-Starter-Kit-BN-/160895668862?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Car_Care_Cleaning&hash=item257621127e

What fluid is needed to wet the bodywork when rubbing the claybar over it?

The lacquer is fine, no peeling anywhere Brilliant My Passats isn't..about 4 spots the size of your hand all down the drivers side, but given the mileage it's done I can forgive it ;D I've never polished it, cos it'll make it look worse

Do you want me to post it up on the Forum or would you prefer an e-mail so I can send it in document form for you to print out?
