I have to replace the thermostat on our Cmax 1.6 TDCI. Am looking for any helpful pointers, including does the brake vac pump need to me moved to do the job. The car struggles to reach and maintain 70 deg C water temperature.

Leave the vac pump.
Buy a new housing though, as they often leak. The plastic distorts over time.
Not cheap but come complete with temp sender thermostat , connecting pipe etc....
Easy enough job , but some of the connectors can be tricky to release push in/pull back affair

Thanks Karl. Am going for the complete unit rather than stat only. It does look somewhat buried but I should be able to do it.

.
Yes , but thinking about it I'm not sure you can just get the thermostat on its own anyway

Job completed this morning. Took my time and did it in an hour. A bit of dismantling alright but not too bad in the end. Only gripe was the o-ring on the small pipe in the stat housing had swelled and made reseating the connection a pig of a job. Happy days!
