is fitted in a mk3 focus it's the newer shape on a 2005 1.6 petrol, not sure if this is still the same as the old shape as it was still available when this came out, anyways need changing so if older model fits it should be cheaper and easier to get hold of

What's your vin no ?
You could source an older transmission , but you'll need an exact match or your gear ratios will be different..
There are 4 different transmissions fitted to 2004-2010 my focus
Ib5,mtx75,mmt6, and m66

from what i can gather it's an ib5,when you say get exact match or ratios will be out do you mean for instance there are variations of the ib5 or just get that model type

so any ib5 will do then as long as for 1.6 from what i gather MTX is for 2.0 and above maybe the odd 1.8 has been seen with that box

You could fit any ib5 but need to bare in mind what car it's come from as all have slightly different ratios dependent on model and engine size
If you source a 1.6 from another mk2 focus , you should be ok
There's a build label on the transmissions ( or at least should be )
Which will help you

Gearbox was whining it's head off,run without oil(oil seals gone),tried a thicker oil and a few other things but was still very noisy, all done and dusted and i could do them all day long, was very easy to do and that was on my driveway only took a few hours.

Doddle to bleed, I use a pressure bleeder but will bleed with pedal with abit of messing about.

Most vauxhalls are a pain to bleed!
