I bought a USB OBD11 fault code reader off ebay recently...after a lot of faffing about to get it to connect to the laptop...I have got it up and running now, www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4005948750...84.m1439.l2649Using Scantool.net software it came with...only able to use the first 2 pages of info unless I pay for the full prog, I'm new to using these devices as my daily drive is a 1975 Landrover...only got it to clear a fault light on my daughters KA after the coil pack failed which it did without problem, So out of curiosity...just what can I do with it...I dont understand most of the data it displays interesting as it is me being from a by gone age..but nice to know just what can be done with it on our family cars which I'm always called on to maintain, Is there any other free software available that may give more info that the scantool stuff I have. Nick.

Hi Nick,
Your ebay link doesn't seem to be working...
Personally you'd be better off with a handheld device, but you are looking at a price of £60 - £100 for something basic but useable.

Get yourself Forscan downloaded (just google it), this should enable you to read ABS and Airbag also on Fords, Mazda and some Volvos!

It's not a to bad a obd reader
If you look on the net for codes you can then use full versions of the software.
Forscan is one I've used on a friends car at home before I bought a pro level tool for at home It worked quite well and for free can't complain
