If you remember the drive belt makes a little noise when cold.. Smell, petrol, real petrol man Worse than it was so it will get looked at when the weather picks up. Fumes coming into the car isn't good for anyone so will have a look see if anythings obvious. Smells like petrol fumes.

At tickover you can see a small amount of blue smoke coming up the drivers side of the engine block.Hard to see what it is with all the stuff above it. Could be exhaust manifold (gasket) or crankcase breather split/blocked and blowing back or something else? Going to have to invest in a set of low rise car ramps.

A mate popped round today and found the blue smoke problem and as the link below removed the turbo (after a few choice words ) and took it away as some of the studs are still in place on the turbo and are tight so need some heat on them to remove. There is a small leak on the rocker cover gasket left hand side as you look at the engine right at the back of the cambelt cover which is weeping and then it drips onto the exhaust manifold hence the small amount of blue smoke being emitted. He also found the right hand manifold gasket of the four as pictured is stretched/broken hence a slight blow so that came off as well and the oil pipe to to the turbo and a small water pipe to the heater matrix which has a metal middle piece with two rubber ends and one of them looks like it needs replacing (left hand side of metal pipe in picture show). So up to now I've got to order 16 new exhaust manifold studs/nuts and 4 exhaust manifold gaskets, oil feed pipe return gasket (bottom of the engine behind the engine where that piece of pipe goes near the alternator) 2 rocker cover gaskets as the other side (right) is leaking in the same place on the opposite side (left) behind cambelt cover see photo. Not the end of the world then..It's nearly 21 years old after all I reckon the gasket blew when I drove it

Cossie Slides Shouldn't 4x4s have the stronger 205 block? Yours says 200? I know sorry. It's a misconception the 205 is a stronger block than the 200 block. Why because the 200 block is for the 4x4 Sapphire Cossies due to the additional stresses of the 4x4 transmission.2WD and 4WD versions have different gearboxes T5 (2WD) and MT75 (4WD). As far as I am aware the 205 block is on the 2WD Cossies. The 200 block was used on the first versions of the Escort Cossie from 1993-1996 before the blue top engine came out for them.

Simon says scrap it soon as metal prices are falling Access is the main issue plus it's 21 years old as well. Simon says I know he wouldn't say that. A big hit 46 years ago that song.
