Are Filtron ok ? I've fitted quite a few, the cartrige type seemed extremely tight to push on the spout. Thinking about it they had a o-ring at each end unlike the ones I've taken off. That could be a good thing ?
Can't find much about them on the web. Again that could be a good thing as the web seems to be first place to air a grievance these days. Filtron have a website and they appear a top company. Some brief technical info about manufacturing techniques and tips.
Seem to sell them everywhere, Halfords, Pages and such stock them. Found a forum talking about a magazine that tested a load of oil filters including the Filtron version, seemed to rate it about half way in the data that I didn't really understand. The thread had a comment from somone who believes the opel/saab filters he uses at work are made by filtron and had seen problems caused by the filter media detach on some. Not exactly a reliable critique.
Anyone got any good or bad comments about them ?

No actual experience with Filtron brand but I'm convinced that GM/Vauxhall canister oil filters are made by them.
Both made in Poland, have very similar spacing on holes, two bands around body, as do some Unipart filters and even some Comline filters.
Reckon they're producing them in the millions but unsure whether they're equal quality.
Prefer Mann filters when you first take them out of the box they look quality and the finish on the threads is excellent.

Who ever makes parts for a car manufacturer may well produce their own version with there own branding, but it doesn't mean they're exactly the same spec as would be specified by the oe manufacturer.
When you're producing items in there millions every 0.1p counts against your bottom line.
I've worked in manufacturing for 20 years and we're targeted to be below a set price to hit our targets for our bonus, item cost, land fill costs, recycling, machine efficiency etc all count towards profitability. We have monthly meetings to keep us up to date with what's happening, including sales and bonus predictions etc
Heinz baked beans and Tesco's own may share the same silhouette, but do they taste the same? Why not? Ingredients costs that's why and Tesco don't make baked beans.........................

when i used to work at dealers. the oil fited to engines at the factory had red writing, the replacemnets through parts had silver. the pads were made by ferodo in citroen boxes put if you bought ferodo pads from factors they were half the price and no way near the same quality. lastly timing belts were all made by dayco, red writing on factory fitted belts yellow on genuine belts and blue on dayco boxed belts. all belts all made by dayco none felt any different in the hand.

I've fitted a fair few filtron filters normally when our first option supplier cannot supply, can't say I've taken a great deal of notice of the products, having said that I've not had any bother with any or nothings jumped out at me as a potential issue.

I think they are part of the wix filtration group?
No local stockist to me but I think Id be happy to fit them, and I am quite fussy on filters generally.

There was a telly program on the other day about supermarket own brands , and marketing etc They visited a pie/pasty manufacturer who produced supermarket own label as well as there own label pies. Essentially the same but supermarket screw all items down to bare cost. So branded pie has slightly better ingredients
